Fake Canadian is here... He'* taking forever to paint the valve covers. Car should have been running hours ago. Darn perfectionists.

Anyone want to guess how nice they are going to look when he'* done? He rocks.

Crap...I thought he was done and he jumped up (spurred on by my post) and said "gotta throw another coat on" Kripes...

Meanwhile the engine is in, everything is ready except the valve covers, engine electrical and plug wires. I have the coolant and oil in already. Guess I'll take pictures even though they'll look like other ones I already have.

Well after changing the title 1,125,687th time. I'm continually impressed by the information and the quickness you work...I eagerly await results.

Tell him there'* no time to do valve covers, it'* time to go driving

Congrats guys!

Bill, if there is any issues with this motor will they be noticed fairly quickly or is this going to be another 200 mile thing?

I hope to god this thing is good.

It'* purring like a kitten. The theory is the paint on the VC'* will cure from the engine heat.

As cool as you're running now, that will take a while.

I bet you aren't seeing over 120 F temps on top of the SC when running.

The thermostat is still working bud And yes..it sits right at 180F. It fired up nicely and idles great. At this point it has run for 20 minutes idling and washing anything into the oil pan. The oil is clear, clean and beautiful. First thing in the morning the oil will be changed and the mileage will start.

Vids and pics to come of the start up.

Cody...how long would you like me to leave "Update on pg18" in the title?

That'* funny. I thought your Gen V would run cooler than your coolant temp.

My Gen 3 always did when I measured the SC casing temp....even under racing conditions in 100 F temps

With my 160 F stat, I now see SC temps when fully warmed of 110 F.....about 50 F lower than coolant temp.

Have you measured the temp :?:

Funny you'd say that, I always thought the same thing until I did a blower swap then firugre out that the diference is more air and the tune was out the window.
As far as charge temp... can't tell, I have always been able to place my handson the blower at any given time.

oh..blower temp. I don't have a gun to check the exterior temp with on the casing. At WCBF I was right on track with the rest of the group.

The Gen V should be right in line with yours.

Drove a little today and it'* running like a champ. Seems to have a bad plug or wire, will address that and get it 100%.

Didn't take any chances after 20 minutes of idling, I changed the oil, ran it less than 5 minutes and changed it again. There is nothing but clean oil in this motor. And now it'* Mobil 1 with a Napa Gold filter.

Tony Macarni stopped over with his car Saggy Butt, then Karl buzzed in with his hot new 2001 in the ever perfect color of black.

On the way back from the Robin, I tested out the wheel speed sensor defeat (darn rain). One button push and I'm free of all torque management.
