So are you absolutely sure it'* not a sticking checkvalve like Thomas was describing? Also, what'* going on with that new aluminum pan and oil pressure kit? What exactly does the pressure kit do, and could it be part of the problem? I think two motors in a row is a little bit suspicious. Drive it for a while and see if it really is a bad bearing.

Bill,
That really blows . Sorry to hear the pain of re-doing what you just did. If you swap again, I would suggest maybe re-doing the short block on your own or get a machine shop to at least prep the block for you to do your own bearings and rings.

It isn't a check valve. When T was mentioning that..the pressure had merely started to head downward. As I lightly touched the throttle, pressure would come up, therefore the pump was working well.
As for the oil pressure kit. It is designed to increase pressure and it was working quite well. At idle pressure was 60psi and at highway speeds 70-80 was noted.
Had pressure dropped and not tried to come back, a check valve would have been likely. Pressure was there...merely running out the bearing that was falling apart. There were enough signs on the motor that point to why it went bad.
I'm starting to think we didn't swap the motor and I dreamed it....yeah yeah..that'* about right.
Now I've got this other idea... velcro motor mounts It'll revolutionize the automobile industry. Since I keep swapping them ... it would be faster if I just used velcro.
Going to call this morning and find out how the "return" policy works at the junkyard.

Uppydate:
The motor they have to replace the bad one with is from a 96 and has been there over a year. While this shouldn't have any negative effects on it...I passed and played "make a deal" on a 2001 Bonne motor with 90K on the clock.
Mechanic Dan will make the swap tomorrow. Randman said he'd help me tonight which works out. Should be pretty easy to get it out and done, load it..drop the truck off with Dan.
Left Todd a message asking if the springs would work on the 01 motor ...if not or if the other springs are better..I'll get different springs and sell the 105'*.

Wow, an '01 motor w/ Gen V supercharger - I'm jealous.
The comp 105 springs should work on that motor - I just swapped a set of those into mine.
