I don't know how the hell you would bend a crank.... I think you need to look elsewhere at the moment. Balance shaft? HB? Flexplate?

Also, what exactly happened with the piston or pistons you replaced? There'* no chance you put something in that weighs slightly different than the rest, is there?

It also seems like the "frequency" of the bounce/vibration would indicate something out of balance that turns more slowly than the rest of the engine. Maybe I'm way off, but it seemed like that in the video. Did you hook up the TC correctly when reconnecting the engine and trans?

Sorry... I'm just throwing all kinds of options at you. Most of them are probably wrong, but I just can't imagine you bending a crankshaft.

Externally with the Harmonic balancer and the flexplate.

Boost I think its the flexplate to be honest with you. If you have to pull the engine again to get a stroker kit, I would just get a Low milage L36 bottom end and use that to bump up compression.

Questions answered in "Radnom" order
Balance shaft, looks right to me..???

Gears and chain, even laid the old crank gear on for the triple check

I feel the same way about my chances of building a crankshaft. however..as discussed with my buddies before.."if'n it weren't for bad luck....I'd have no luck at all"
The flywheel felt odd when bolting it up.. no lie there... I pressed forward because it "can" only bolt up one way. Well...if someone can prove that wrong..It may be me....and I really hope so. If not..It'* cranky time.

I'm so calm about it..simply because.. things happen..it was my own lack of attention to the detail that caused it. Odd..this crap only happens on my car...ever.

Olds..that'* why I'm thinking flywheel.

Ben..the vid is in slow mo visual vs what the motor really does. To capture it at a decent rate would take up too much space.

Piston is in #1 and that end of the motor is still... it'* at the flywheel area.

And yes...it'll come out again. Darn.. gonna work on it while it'* still clean and nice to deal with.

When all is dark, cold and crappy...one must look at the smallest of things for happiness. Life is simply too short to spent it in misery.

No matter what..I called and purchased a full motor today. Haro and I will be motor twins if I have to swap. 98 GTP. There will be parts for sale.

I'll pull to find out exactly what it is after Dan gives me his impression.

I'll be removing bolts that are going to come out easy (recent removal..ya know)
On a car that is fairly spotless in the engine bay (well worth it when your motor is out)
Pulling bolts that were wire wheeled and never saw a speck of dirt...on a motor so clean ...I painted it...in a clean garage with air tools and heat (usually not required this time of year).

The only part that sucks is pulling the headers off again, because the rear stays in the car...and even then.. that'* around 6-7 bolts per mani.

Took me 4 hours when the car was filthy...maybe less clean.

The engine has to come out no matter what.

Dan left...

He'* positive it'* balance related. Not really a surprise to me. After reviewing the balance shaft and cam/crank timing pictures..he'* feeling a bit stumped.

He will be returning tomorrow night to see what it ends up being. Very interesting at the moment. He brought up a good point about the crank....if it was that bent..it would have to be leaking oil badly at the main seals..

I'm hoping for a flywheel still.
