That backwards bolt is a lot easier if you just pull the tranny with the motor, you goof ball

A little sleep and some clear thoughts later.. Here I am at work :?
The Gen V SC is longer in body length at both ends. The snout is shorter to compensate and keep the belt path intact. I may be the first to make this swap on a 96-99 Bonne and found the clearance issue. Using my handy air tools and cutoff wheel, I approached the alternator for modifications. There are small bolts coming ouf the back of the alt to hold the guts inside. I removed the ends of then that protruded beyond the casing and then took a little of the material they thread into.
The choice was possibly sacrifice my alternator in the process or have no Gen V on the car. Any junkie will tell you.. it was sacrifice time.
There is very little room between the two, I may see how many sheets of paper fit later tonight. It'* that tight.

The alternator issue occured while I was on the phone with him. He never did get overly excited or anything. :?
A couple of choice words muttered
.....a pause or two to ponder the options, then I hear....."hold on for a second", and the air grinder fires up.
A few psi later and he was bolting on the Gen V. All in the name of making it work...oh, and power
The calm, rational approach and seamingly non-chalant way he went about it was very reassuring.
So close, now you can almost smell the fluids burning off on initial start-up.
His PCM isn't gonna know what hit it. I suspect it will crying "uncle" shortly after the motor is fired.
Good job, sir, and thanks for sacrificing parts on behalf of the club (like you really did it all for us

Working with the mechanic buddy enough.. you learn to not get excited over some things. You search for the fix and get things done. First thing that popped into my thoughts was "lifetime warranty"
I was spewing some works of encouragement to the oil filter adapter. Having reviewed both side by side out of the car..I wondered it that nub would be in the way. It appeared small enough to not worry about, big enough to keep in mind.
Bob...weren't you on the phone for the backwards bolt hole sighting?
