I doublt it could have bent. Let'* think about this one. It wouldn't have sat properly in the bearings. The pistons on those compression or exhaust strokes should be hitting valves.if tolerances are off.
Either way..it'* a work in progress and I should know more in the next couple days. If the drank has to come out and go to the machine shop to be checked..then it does.

Bill, IIRC the crank fell from the rear, while the front was wedged in. Could it be possible that only the front part of the crank is bent without effecting the tollerances? You did say you had trouble getting the belt on when the TAM was installed. What did you do to remedy the belt problem?
Did you get a good look at the crank pulley while the engine was running? What did you see?

Eeeek! Definitely something out of round or unbalanced. Reminds me of one of those childs car toys were the wheels are off center so it goes up and down, up and down when you roll it.
That is the weirdest thing I have seen. Unfortunately, have no clue on what is wrong (or how you managed to do the impossible). But I am sending the positive vibes to the NE and hoping the problem is something simple. You'll get it figured out and I am available for moral support, Bill.

Tony...I had trouble realizing there was enough room to sneak the belt past pulley #9 on the famous Dayco pic. Good thought...unrelated.
The more we toss this around..the more I'm thinking the back end of the crank is bent (where it hooks to the flywheel or the flywheel is not lined up right.
Hmmm upgrade possibilities are maybe opening up. (See...sometimes..bad things may turn into upgrade opportunities.)

Hmmmm....not what you'd normally want to see after a build, on the first start....
But, like you say Bill, just another opportunity/reason to look at another upgrade. Other than that item, things sounded really smooth, engine-wise.
