Ugh, failure. Some problem somewhere in the wiring. There is a short somewhere when I go to crank the motor. The voltage drops (to like 4 volts) and the starter just clicks. Then when I stop cranking, back to ~12V. I don't know what it could be. I swapped the battery out for a fully charged one, that didn't help.

I don't get it, I didn't touch any of the starter wires. I'm wondering if the 'low reference' wires for the sensors and coils are the problem.
Oh and when I plugged the coils in, the LEDS on the front of the MS lit up dimly.

Diagnose... I'll get out there with a DMM tomorrow and figure out what the heck I did wrong.

I got all of the wiring sorted out and the engine cranking again. Sadly, I ran out of time tonight to get any real work done getting the settings right for the new ignition.

Tomorrows another day.

Good news everyone!

I finally got the megasquirt to pickup the crank signal! I don't think it'* picking up the cam signal but I'm halfway there!

It fired!

It'* working perfectly. Not a single event is being missed, even at higher RPMs. I can't believe it'* actually running. I'm so stoked.

No pictures or video yet, I'm still getting all the wiring wrapped up (pun).

Good job! Is the wiring going to look less interesting than the first version in which it was crammed behind the coolant reservoir?

No offense. I'm sure that'* a perfectly decent way to go about it.

I'm not going to wrap everything up under there until I'm sure I don't want to change anything else.

For example, I want to wire in the second fan to turn on when the motor goes into boost.

But someday!

Just to show the scope of what'* involved with swapping in a different ignition system.

Over here you can see the Innovate wideband is mounted on the strut tower and wired in.

Since the fuel pump relay is so close to the WBo2, I decided to mount the LED and calibration button there

This, I am particularly proud of. I mounted the AFR gauge where the boost gauge used to be. Instead of running a signal wire from the engine bay through the firewall and to the gauge, I decided to 'borrow' the SES light signal wire. I just cut it at the factory ECM plug and wired it to the o2 signal wire going to the megasquirt. Then in the car, I just cut the SES wire at the gauge cluster and ran it to my AFR gauge

I also wired in a manual fan switch to the right of the cluster. No picture of that though...
