Funny you should ask that. There were something like 9 owners ( including dealerships) throughout it'* life. It started it'* life as a lease, so that right there could explain it. When we got it, the oil was really black, and sometime previously it ended up in a ditch, since the floor and gas tank were dented. We did fix it all though.

I was thinking the same thing, especially if it went on at least one lease, alot of people don't take care of leased cars.

Today is the day, we are heading home thanks to Smellbird, he is going to drive us home on his way through to get back the MN. Once I get home I will have a friend come over and look at it, he will probably say it is a main bearing also, then we will have to go from there. Track down another friend that may change it for us on the side.

Just going to deal with the car once I see it.

yea it sucks how lease/rental vehicles are abused, my moms old saturn was a rental and the fuel pump went at 50k no doubt it was run on e for the first 14k of its life, and my jeep was one too but the only problem ive had was the pickup coil went bad and the driveshaft broke off (long story)

Man, talk about irony. My dad and I were cooped up in a Canadian Tire parking lot today (down in Jim W'* turf in Mississauga) thanks to the exhaust deciding to break free just behind the cat. Wasn't fixable in the parking lot, had to brave it and go home.

WOW, the exhaust resonance just below 2000rpm just increases 100-fold. Basically had to accelerate hard every time on the way home to bring the rpm'* to 3000, lift off, and let it idle along at 70km/h... any time spend at 2000rpm just hurts. Luckily I was in the passenger seat and could plug me ears with my fingers... couldn't say the same for dad. Though I must say, it was pretty weird just tooling down the 403 before Mavis doing 110, and all of a sudden, I thought something was vibrating like a rumble strip. No, it was the exhaust...

Deafening. Surprised my ears aren't bleeding. I have a nice headache now though

Here is an update.

It is sounding more like a rod bearing than a main bearing. So I went ahead and pulled the engine yesterday afternoon. ( first time I actually pull an engine on any vehicle, and first time I get to use my engine lift for lifting an engine, previously used to lift the box off my truck and lift the cab off)

Will be calling today for prices on used engines, and new-rebuilt engines, also we may even take mine apart to see if it is fixable.

Here is the M.O.D. ( mileage of death)

This is after letting it sit for the weekend, as you can see there is now some residue on the dipstick ( black stuff) but the rest of the oil still looks pretty clean.

Here is it'* new home ( had to take my boat out though), and Renée starting on the dismantling.

After a few hours and a few minors snags ( nothing a saws-all didn't solve) it is free.( in case you want to know what I needed a saws all for, it was for the exhaust bolts, they were stuck on the flange and not letting the engine out, even though the nuts and springs were removed)

Now it sits empty

Here is another vid of the car making the noise, we had to move it to it'* new temporary home.

You know Frank would pretty damn good in MY DRIVEWAY, I bet Renée would really like it too, lmfao

EDIT----> I didn't want to double post so I will just edit my last response.

I just got off the phone with a wrecking yard and they have an engine with 51,000 kms (about 31500 miles) for 300$ and no core charge, so I can keep mine and take my time if I decide to rebuild it.

Lets hope they don't sell it on me before I get there.
