dang that hurts. did they call to confirm that the car had arrived? would be kinda awful if they dropped her off at the wrong house. but it is good to see you are still having fun, even without a car.

btw, jim, i never knew...

We weren't far from a place we could stop since we first stopped on the side of the 400. We drove a few more minutes and by that time it started with the screeching. I figure by the time I get home on Sunday the engine will be seized, it just has that sound to it.

edit:We pretty much figured it was a bearing by the sound of it. We will have to figure out how bad it is. But if we have to change the engine we may do both engine and tranny since the engine would be getting pulled.
mine made the same _exact_ sound when my lower rod bearing went with the rod, give it a little time and youll see little metal shavings in the oil (i did) mine also did it with no symptoms at all, i was doin 80mph on i-290 and about a half mile from my house i heard a faint knock and it just got louder and louder as i pulled in the driveway it was making the same sound, the car sat for 3 months, until i bought my old se and had the engine pulled out of it and dropped in it (the trans went bad)

Yes we called home and confirmed that it arrived in one piece.

We have to rip into the engine to see how bad it really is. If it is just the bearing and the crank and heads are still good, we may ( depending on cost) rebuild what we have, and maybe oversize it a bit and change the cam, but nothing major.

Unless we can find a cheap engine with low miles( yeah right) to put in. While we are doing that we figure we might as well do the tranny since we don't know how long it has to live. I could get mine freshened up ( not to keen on that) or find a good used one, but who knows how much life is left in used tranny too.

decisions, decisions....

Ouch. Sorry I couldn't make it guys, ended up having to make final preparations (read: shopping sucks) for back to school for Tuesday.

I know exactly where you were, looks like the Canadian Tire in Barrie. And I'm also wondering why your car'* headed on the 400 SOUTH to Toronto instead of north to Subury? My dad and I managed to miss that bigass sign once (yeah, I know ) and had to make a u-turn. Traffic looked even ***-tasticker than in the vid at the time, too I do believe the northbound ramp is just past that southbound ramp, where you make a lefty to get on.

Also sounds like you guys passed by my "turf" at the 401 and 400. Wish I could've gotten in on this...

Yeah I said the same thing as soon as it turned, I was like " he took the south ramp, WTF", but we figured he went to fuel up or whatever, before his long journey to bring my car home.

We also figured the same thing Pdad, try and enjoy the weekend and deal with it when we get home.

if you dont mind me asking, how was the maintenance on the car? were you the original owner? if not it was probably neglected by the old owner and the damage was already done, it just decided to finally fail now :(
