i just installed the rice pipe and the rx-4750, and now my check engine light came on. i unplugged some sensor in the tubing between the air box and the throttle body. is it the mass air flow sensor? if not , what is it then? is it bad not to be hooked up?

That is your IAT sensor. Is senses incoming air tempature. You should have this pluged in. It helps the engine determin the correct air/fuel ratio among other things. There should be a spot in the rice pipe to put the sensor. I highly recommend hooking it up. This may be the cause of your engine light as well as poor performance.

Enlarge the hole in the filter, and install the sensor there. I used a soldering iron to gradually increase the diameter until it fit snugly.

I'm now running my water/methanol injector in that hole, though, and have the IAT back in the original hole in the pipe.

Get it hooked up!

After doing this mod I strongly suggest removing the battery cables for a few minutes and then reconnecting them so the computer can reset. My car would not start after I did this so if any of you have that problem then reset the CPU. Anyways I noticed a bit quicker throttle response and definitely a louder groan at WOT. This is so great but I need to find some way to cut the pipe shorter cause I sure as hell dont have any tools to do so. Can I take it somewhere to get cut? Right now Im trying to modify that little rubbery thing so that I can put the IAT sensor in that hole because in my opinion that would be the best place to put it.

i just took a razor blade and hollowed it out till it got big enough to fit.

I used my soldering iron to melt away the insides to make it fit but it comes out pretty easy so I need to melt it some more so that it can go in further. I also had to sand the edges of the IAT sensor base so that it could fit cause I was having a hard time getting it in there. Will do this once I get my car to start.

If you need to cut it use a hacksaw, or go buy one, or go to walmart, get a black & decker angle grinder and a cut-off wheel for about $35 and cut it. Dremel works too... But isn't as beefy, but will do other projects.

You really shouldn't have to reset your computer, as you're just giving the intake more potential for flow.

Finally got the pipe cut and I am sooo happy! Sounds a bit louder than when the pipe was longer and I actually did notice a very slight improvement in overall performance. REALLY! I'll post pics later today.

A shorter pipe flows better, but the longer you keep the pipe the closer you get to the cooler air. It'* a trade off.
