noticed that the fuel rails have that weird drum on them. When you bought them, did you request the drum knowing of some difference, or did you accidentally pick that up?
Also, that is a weird trunk hole. I didn't see it here so far, so I've got to ask: Is there an insulating cover to seal off the hole?

Although what Haro said is true, it does add a bit of volume......but that wouldn't last me very long.
I believe it to be an accumulator or pulsation dampener used to tune out vibration.
Not a weird hole at all. Pontiac finally conceded to the need to have a simpler access to the fuel pump and level sensor.
Only on +00 models. :P The metal plate has a reusable rubber seal and bolts on with 5 bolts. The insulated trunk carpet covers it and my custom carpeting on top of that.

That is really nice! Now I must know if there is a tightening sequence with torque specs that you follow Pretty nice idea on Pontiac'* behalf. I'd love to have that in my car!

Not a weird hole at all. Pontiac finally conceded to the need to have a simpler access to the fuel pump and level sensor. Only on +00 models.
My 1996 riviera has it. You inherted it from us original G-body guys.

OK, ok, I stand corrected. I was referring to Bonnevilles. 
Many other models have this buttoned up *** hole feature.
I tried leaving a cue tip soaked in a strong solution of methanol for days and it did nothing except clean off the oil residue.

Oh this tread is funny. I got a good laugh reading the whole thing. The fuel canister isn't hard at all with a full tank, but you may wait until it is down a bit so you don't have as much to deal with. The canister will always be full anyway like you already said. I replaced mine twice.

Yes Bill, they are all H bodies.
H for Heck of a good body.
The new smaller alternator belt arrived and it'* on now. The only difference besides no water pump pulley is a bit less wrap on the crankcase pulley.
Here'* a pic of where the +00'* battery resides. Mine is on trickle charge with my Auto Tender.
So today I discovered for the first time, damaged caused by WCBF07 4 months ago.
.........and I thought the 275 drag tire was rubbing just a little bit.
It shouldn't cost much to replace. I'll probably patch this one and use it next year for racing only.
So this is what is behind the right front liner............the windsheild washer reservoir. :P
Rear tire has to come off to install the hot wire kit for the new fuel pump. The relay will sit behind the plasic sheild.
You can see the rear load leveling air shock air pump with the panel removed. This where the fuel pump relay with bolt with the ground connection.
