General Motors, in a press release dated 2/4/05 announced that the Bonneville would be removed from the Pontiac lineup effective with the release of the 2006 models. It will be replaced with the G9, a RWD performance 2-door coupe with an inline 9 cylinder engine with 603 cubic inches of displacement, and a reworked Allison transmission. The G9 will also be available with a base drivetrain L27 mated with the more reliable 4T60E tranmsmission in an effort to regain reliability. A turbo option will be available on the SXE model (mid-grade) for those wanting a bit more performance.

Further details were not available at press time.

I just heard this on TV moments ago. Face it guys, they are making room for an increase in SUV production. >:(:

Now another reason why I should flip the finger as I pass an SUV down the highway.

The Bonneville was the only car that I loved from the Pontiac line. The other cars had sport, but none of them had class like the Bonneville had.
