Do you have an Autozone near you? They used to give out a metal key that was shaped just right for plugging into the connector under the dash. If not, a paper clip uncoiled and bent into the right shape will work.

I got one of the free ones, It came with a booklet that listed the most common codes. But last time I was there they wanted to sell that same key. A bent paper clip works just as well.

Chairman- post the code numbers so the "big boys" can help you get it fixed.

OSG- does the ELC compressor have a valve for an air hose?

OP, Post the codes and we'll tell you what they are, Or you can search the club for DTC ##, such as if you get a code 18 search for "DTC 18".

ok all we will get going on this after the first i might try and get the code myself and will check autozone to see if they have the part to use but if money then willl use the paperclip option

sometimes autzone will do the test for you. last time i went the guy did it for me and told me the code and printed me off a description and everthing, just ask them if you arent confident doing it yourself and trying to read the codes.

Just called autozone and they said yes they could do the test on this car so hopefully it starts tomorrow and can get it checked and see whats up with it.

do all these cars have the port under the dash for the tester to plug in to because thats what they said when I called autozone as long as it had the port and I cant get in there to look. but maybe someday the kids will get time to take it and see whats up but they so dang busy working it is hard, It really sux being paralyzed and can't do it myself because thats what I always did before.

i would say they all do, because all cars would need the codes checked somehow



check your rpo codes and see if you didnt get the port as an option J/K

Yes, Your car does have the ALDL under the dash. Drivers' side like all cars. OBD1.

We finally got this to autozone and comes back as code 41 the ICM so will hafta fork out 100 dollars to get one this week then wait for the kids to come install it, Just glad to finally know what it is for sure anf ty all for the help.
