Ever thought of doing the MotorVac thing? Lot of the local GP guys swear by it.

I'm hesitant to see him buy a new fuel pump at this stage. I think the experience I had with camming my car shows that the stock PCM doesn't have the flexibility to deal with the extra air. My fuel pressure was fine at the time, but my fuel trims were still maxed trying to add fuel to make the mixture richer. If his fuel pressure numbers are normal or near-normal, I would look to the PCM.

Don't get me wrong... I don't think changing the fuel pump is a bad idea, but on Terry'* budget I don't want to see him buy parts he doesn't need. At the end of the day it would be just fine to have a new fuel pump, but there'* no need to buy the pump if money could better be spent elsewhere.

Again, a simple AFC calibration fixed me right up after I installed my cam. I think it could be Terry'* solution, too. But of course I'll have to eat my words when he installs a new fuel pump and KR goes away

Well i havent made up my mind which way i want to go first. Of course i dont want to buy things unless i need them at this stage. My main goal is to get rid of the KR and get to the track. I mean am i going to need a fuel pump of course, am i going to buy a pump of course . If i dont need it to fix the problem can it wait a few more weeks, yup. So i talked to bill (boost) last night and he told me how to rig up a fuel pressure tester so i can read it inside the car at WOT. So that looks like what i am going to do. I want to make sure the pressure is good at WOT before i make my decision.

I agree with this test.
What this test will tell you is if you are outflowing your pumps ability to keep up. Failing this could mean a weak pump or too much engine.

Its not easy to outflow a stock pump but how sure are you its still stock? I'm looking forward to what you find!

This is the best idea I've seen in a few pages of this thread. I'm glad Bill is getting you set up to check WOT pressure. Should help indicate which direction you need to investigate further.

Yup lol

I am getting my powersteering bolt fixed hopefully tomorrow and then i can get back to troubleshooting this KR problem. Probably thursday i will pick up a fuel pressure gause and check the pressure underload. If it is suffering then i may do a pump next, if it is ok then i will do the pcm next.

Well i got the bolt out and everything is back together.

So back to the KR problem. As of this morning, i did a scan the O2'* were around 900-920, 0 KR, 23 degrees of timing, injectors were at 18IPWs. Everything was BEAUTIFUL. Car broke the tires loose from a 20 roll through the shift, all i can say is wow lol.

Then it warmed up, coolant got up to around 187, everything else wamred up. Scanned it again. O2'* were 760-805, 12-15 degrees of KR, 3 degrees of timing, injectors bounced between 18-22 IPWs and hit 27 1 time at like 4675 rpms. (shows the car is begging for fuel). Car felt likes its normal self when it has KR, a slug .

So lets get some more ideas flowing.

I used a freinds fuel pressure gauge (it is old school and i am not sure how much i trust it). It is SUPPOSE to lock in at the highest reading and the little needle stays there. Well i hooked it up and went for a tiny run, went wot and came back it was stuck at 44psi. I am not sure, how accurate it is or what ever. So i am debating just buying a pressure gauge (just really dont have the money, being laid off and everything). But as of that gauge FP looks decent. But myself and bill (boost) were talking and he seems to think the pump is getting hot and dying off. That check was when the pump would have been at minimum real warm.

I just want to get as many ideas rolling on what this can be. Anything that i can change that is super cheap or even free (off the other motor), i would be willing to try. I know i am not going to have a job for atleast 2 more weeks so at this point i would like to putter around with the car and check anything that is super cheap or whatever cause i just odnt have the funds for the things that more then likely it is (pump or PCM). lol

PS, we also noticed that 1 injectors was leaking (continously flowing) (a very little bit but still it was). So i am going to switch out that injector to rule that out, probably tonight.
