Intense PCM
INTENSE sent me the re-programmed PCM with the correct shift points. I installed last night and went to dealer today to get CASE learn procedure ($118 after tax!!). The tech didn't understand the lingo I used, but once I showed him the actual procedure found on a website, he knew what I wanted. I test drove and shift points are correct. It seems to have more consistant power throughout the RPM range. Not sure if it was worth $240 though. Maybe after future mods, I'll realize the gains. Also discovered, now I have developed a small exhaust leak at the rear header gasket, but that'* another thread.
Yeah, that was pretty cool. Downshifting from 3rd straight into 1st was quite unexpected. It caught me off gaurd, but loved it. I haven't tested the speed limiter yet....trust me....I will.

I don't know how you guys know what gear your in beyond second. In my car it'* always been like driving a CVT, at least untill you floor it. The RPMs just slowly sink as you gain speed.
OH and does anyone else have the problem with their tranny not wanting to downshift when going up hills. Ever since I got mine it'* been like this I'll have to stab the throttle to get it to downshift and if I don't it'll feel like its bogging down.

Ya when going up hills you have to momentarily lift on the throttle to release the lock-up torque converter then accelerate and the rpm'* will increase because the torque converter is no longer locked.
It'* a fuel economy thing.
It'* a fuel economy thing.
My car has always shifted into 4th at about 43 mph (cruising). In this gear and speed, the RPM'* drop down low and can't produce enough torque to accelerate at WOT. The computer senses the influx of fuel and to prevent the cylinders from flooding by downshifting the trans.
Factory settings: Cruising around 40 mph, then WOT will only drop to 2nd.
INTENSE settings: Cruising around 40 mph, then WOT drops to 1st and takes it up to 50 or so before going to 2nd. Going into 2nd, the RPM'* are higher than factory, thus producing higher torque and acceleration.
This is because the RPM limiter is moved up to 6000 vs. factory settings of 5000. Also, I noticed that because of the changed shift points, my car used to shift from 2nd to 3rd at 90, now it'* around 95 (It may be higher, but that'* what I noticed before 2nd INTENSE PCM was installed and CASE learn). Woo Hoo!

HHmm. The new PCM did help that downshift thing a little but I wish I had them make it easier to make the thing downshift. Oh well. I'm just going to leave the dam car alone, shes running fine now and I don't want to mess anything else up.
