Default ZZ Performance PCM vs INTENSE PCM

I'm leaving DHP out of this for now.

I know very little about the specifics in tuning still (still in the learning phases), but as a potential buyer of one of these I am trying to make a comparison for which is best for my car. The Forum seems to be very split on which PCM is "best" for the bonneville.

An example in just the past few days:

Case in point, if the ZZP PCM was "so bad" how come a certain member on this forum was able to run a 13.4 in the 1/4 mile with a stock supercharger w/3.2, stock cam, and stock heads?

So anyway the point of this topic is not to argue personal opinon but to argue actual personal experinces and hard facts to justify which is better for which applications.

Cost: Intense - $99.99..... ZZP - $89.99, ZZP is $10 cheaper
Vin Programing: Intense - Yes...... ZZP - Yes
No Speed Limiter: Intense - Yes.....ZZP - Yes
Fan Adjustments: Intense - Yes.....ZZP - Yes
3-1 Skipshifts Intense - Yes.....ZZP - Yes
02, evap, egr delete Intense - Yes...ZZP - Yes
Shift Point Adjustment: Intense - Yes, ZZP - Yes

Ok so we are pretty much equal at this point, What about the places that INTENSE and ZZP differ?

Torque Managment (TM) Removal: Intense claims that 50-60% is removed, ZZP does not specify.
Trans Line Pressure: I cant verify this but it seems that the INTENSE PCM increases the line pressure more than the ZZP does out of the box, leading to harsher/faster shifts (good and bad depending on how you look at it)
Fueling: No Idea here, it seems as some complain about the ZZP running "too" rich thus reducing fuel economy, not sure on the INTENSE side of things

Things that concern Me about either PCM based on others comments:
Intense: Transmission shifts too harsh, "Maximum" Performance not achieved with "standard" PCM aka "The PCM makes no difference in the 1/4 mile".
ZZP: ZZP often forgets bonnevilles dont have the perform shift button on the shifter, or that the 99 and older have 2 buttons, this causes issues when shift points are adjusted.

So I'm stuck here trying to figure out which brand I want. Lets bring some facts and personal experience to this discussion, rather than vendor favoritism. Lets keep this topic clear of "Go buy the ZZP" or "Go get an INTENSE PCM, cause I like mine". I want this narrowed down to actual problems with either pcm, on paper or real world experiences.

How about maybe a powertuner, just throwing that idea out there.

Expensive but worth it.

Ok, this will also be purchased down the line, to modify either'* code further once I learn how to tune, but for now I want a pre-packaged solution until funds are available for a tuner.

Yes, you have a Perform shift and Normal Shift, ZZP tends to think Bonnevilles have the perform shift button on the shifter vs on the console, causing the buttons not to work properly from what I've read.

Sounds like you are looking for a comparison of the ZZP & Intense PCMs in Bonnevilles from someone who has used both in their car. I don't know if you are going to find that anywhere. I went with a Intense PCM due to their customer service and reputation with reguards to their standard Bonneville PCMs.

I now have a custom PCM from Intense for my setup.

Wrong . He knows me. Already picking my brain over it. I've had both. The main differences that I didn't like were the shifting. Like I already told Hans I called and talked to ZZP about things I didn't like, but it is hard to put my finger exactly on what it was I didin't like, but ZZP took care of me and kind of took what I told them and explained some things to me. I can't argue with the customer service at Intense. Love them for that. They are great and know their stuff. My car just likes to run better under the fuel changes that ZZP uses which I am sure Intense uses also. For some reason I was getting KR with the intense and with the ZZP I don't. I am also working on getting a tuner so that I can fix the few issues that I have with my ZZP like the shifting points being a little low for my car, but that can change with mods so I think that is what happened. I am reaching the MPH in the table before the RPMs and it shifts before getting to where I want in the 1-2. Other than that I like it. The Intense wasn't so much the harsher shifts. It was more the daily driving capabilities of it. At WOT it was okay, around town it drove me crazy (pun intended). TC lockup searching made me crazy. That and like I said before, for some reason the car just wanted to have KR with Intense for whatever reason.

I'll make it easy for you

Buy both. If you don't like ours better send it back, I'll refund the full price including shipping both ways. See if they are willing to do the same, if so you are covered either way you choose.
