I got a free dump trailer. The wheels didn't turn, and it was pretty much broken.

Ripped out the axle, replaced it. Bolted the frame back together. Then took it outside to paint it.

Good as new.

Bonus shot of my puppy napping.

Wish I could score stuff like that. I need a dump trailer for my lawn tractor.

i fixed the stuck inertia reel in the passenger seat, added tranny fluid then installed a $6 harbor freight volt meter on the sooter.

today, i busted my axle. at work, 35 miles from home. hit a pot hole at full lock turning out of the parking lot. next thing i know, POP POP POP POP POP. stopped in the middle of a busy road, poked my head down there, and theres a nice 1/2" piece of shiny axle protruding from the boot. luckily, i was able to straighten the wheel and somehow cv caught, and i was able to reverse into the lot, and park across 3 spaces. just got home in the flatbed truck.

good thing i didnt sell the old one yet, because i have work at 7 am tomorrow!!!!!!!

on a side note, progressive roadside is awesome. called them 1/2 hour before i got off work and ten mins before i punched, the guy knocked on the door and asked for my key. no charge tow for the win!!!

Jeeze Jason which side broke? I am wondering on my PA if one day that might happen to me. I am so careful in turns knowing I never want to hear knock, clunk clunk in the middle of no where. Glad u got it towed home ok. Sound like ur going to do an axle swap asap.

bicycle or motorbike?

building the right trailer for the job is a fun project, to me. sort of a hobby i guess, the ones they make at the store fall apart to easy. i made all these except the camper, for different purposes

Motorcycle Justin...500 lb 4cyl 650'*...
I think I might start looking in the free area of CL and see if I could score a trailer too to work on..ya never know I might find a good one!
Looks like Dad'* little helper is sitting comfortable on a car hauler....(she is so cute)...
I'm glad u work & like building them...me not so much..I restored my Ez-loader boat trailer a while back (over 3 months sand paint complete disassemble) and had a bear of a time finding bearings & seals.
The store ones mainly are lightweight junk. There are custom trailers made here that are real quality, but mega $.

thanks, she is cute. those two reasons are exactly why i build my own, good ones always cost twice what it takes me to build it.

you would want something light, like aluminum or fiberglass. i would go to the junk yard or recycling yard and find some aluminum for structure and or sheeting. i take time and gather parts to get deals. the recycling yard will most times let you have the scrap aluminum or steel for what they payed, which is scrap prices. i always go new on the axle because thats were your reliability is. and then tires and rims to match that. but if you dont like building them then maybe you will come across something on craigslist.

after reading this... I'm going to turn my PA now carefully and watch out in full turns!
Look at the bright side, at least is was not the ball joint!
Oh and talking about bright side similar to Jason, my PA hopefully wont be towed again anytime soon ..
and if it does, I bought a Mag Mount (not antenna) an amber rotating beacon~~!! LOL..
