spent an hour talking to them, taking my side, they are supposed to call me back. they made an appointment at the local(o my house) chevy dealer for next friday so i will be home to have it estimated

was he backing up at about 20 or is gm making the sheet metal that thin now? thats a ton of damage. sorry about your car man.

Back in 2000 my exgirlfreind and I bought a brand new Celica GTS. We would car pool because we didn't work far apart from each other and our hours were fairly close. Well two weeks after we got the new car I was pulling into her work parking lot and one of her coworkers who drove a 78 Seville and had a bunch of stuffed animals and crap on the back package tray (inhibiting her vision) threw her car in reverse without looking and slammed into the side of me while I was driving past her looking for a parking spot of my own. She took out the passenger door and rear quarter panel. Well our insurance companies came to the conclusion that it was a 50/50 fault accident because I should of been able to avoid her backing into me. I didn't even know she was backing up till I heard the thud! Anyways we winded up having to pay a deductible and our insurance payed for our cars damage. Her stupid car only had the rubber molding on that big *** bumper scuffed. Needless to say I felt like I got the short end of the stick on that deal. I hope you don't get screwed in this deal like I did Justin.

My starter on the GTP caught fire. Melted the solenoid and a lot of wires. Spent all day today replacing everything. What a pain that was laying on my back for hours. At least I have a new starter and all good connections now.

One bad thing about a Florida car is all the humidity in the air is no good for electrical connections. I have gone around putting dielectric grease on everything.

She did clean up well today.

In all seriousness, its good you got it fixed after! Did you notice if any of the wires were corroded? That may be an issue in other areas, especially with how common it is for the battery cables to corrode.

That'* a first. Never heard of a starter doing that. Glad you caught it in time before it really took off.

I have never heard of a starter doing that either. Good thing I keep a fire extinguisher in the trunk.

took the new PA out for the first time last night since the tags finally came in the mail. found a couple things wrong.... drivers window track is screwed (nothing new to me, ive replaced them a few times on these cars) and the steering is sloppy round 45mph. right at 45 i get bit of wheel wobble. i suspect its the tie rod ends. other than that, it seems like a good car.

once it warms up a bit ill get it in the air and start prying on stuff to find out for sure. till then ill be rolling in the old pa.

spent some time in the car and installed the cb radar detector and swapped the radioshack whip for a wilson 1000. new whip is now 9' 10" off the ground.
