My poor girl is at the shop, waiting on a new LF control arm. Seems the Dorman control arms I had them put in March last year, the front part of the LF is broken. IDK how, but the arm has to be replaced now. Stupid chinese garbage parts.
Originally sounded like a ball joint going bad on that side, the usual thunk, but with a bit of play in the steering that felt odd. Got really bad really fast in the last couple days. I just figured it was a combination of the bad ball joint and it being on 4 Blizzaks which make the steering feel numb.
Nope.
So much for this weeks paycheck. (most of it anyway).
I'm just sitting here at home now, once they found out how long it would take to get a new arm to the shop, they brought me home for the day. Gotta call back in about an hour or so to see whats going on, if the part shows up they might have it finished by closing time.
Sitting here waiting is the hardest part. Its not like I really have anything to do than sit here on the PC. Like waiting for a friend to come out of surgery and get the thumbs up.
I still have to try and find the leak around the windshield (which sounds like a loud whistle in my right ear for the hour and a half of driving I do a day, which annoys the hell outta me), and try to figure out how to fix the cowl molding thats flapping around now. The metal clips that held it to the window molding are long gone, so the upper attachment points are just sitting there with no way to attach them.

been working on this car since 10 this morning. I upgraded to 96+ front brakes and I started to install dorman trailing arms. I'll have to finish that up later. My back is killing me.

Sitting here hoping UPS shows up on the doorstep with parts I ordered. It should be here today..."should".
If that comes in, then I'll have an excuse to get off my lazy butt and go do something. We have been spoiled, 50 degree days out the last week, and today its below freezing, my day off that I could go out and get something done. Go figure.
I wanted to try and seal (or at least find) the air leaks around the windshield. I think I know where they are, but I'm not sure I can find some sealant that will cure up in this temperature, but I can try. Its pretty bad, can't make it much worse than it already is.
And I have to figure out how to fix the broken cowl molding mounts. I guess they used to be some sort of fitted metal clips at the top, that clipped to the windshield molding strip. Well, the metal is all gone now. Not sure how to fix it without it looking like garbage. There really isn't enough to double side trim tape it to.
Then I have a new mount kit for my phone, gotta find a good place on the dash to put it, where its not in the way, but I can still reach it easily. I had it suction cupped to the windshield below the mirror, but had an officer tell me it can't go on the glass, but somehow the dash mount is fine, despite my GPS being stuck to the glass in the corner.
I really hope those parts show up.
Maybe it will warm up some more.
I obviously need a reason to get off this couch...lol.
