that might be an idea. still weighing all my options. one idea i had was to get that cobra (its powered by aa'*... just found that out) and mount it actually in the trough between the window and trunk lid, and put a piece of nitro rc car fuel line, or maybe clear weed wacker fuel line over it so it wont scratch the trunk.
i mean no offense, but the city boy in me is screaming big *** antennas on sedans are dorky lol.

it might not be so horrible.... cop across the way has a stainless whip on his tahoes roof. its been there since ive lived here and ive never even noticed the antenna till i looked....
im thinkin ill run by dicks and the radio hut just to get an idea of what my options are. 2 dimensional pics on the internet can only tell ya so much.
as long as i can hide the base in the trunks trough i dont think itll look too bad considering my car has no antenna as it is.
any doubt i had is now gone in whether a cb is a good idea though. my radar was beeping from about 2 miles out, but apparently the one truck that was near me didnt have one. speed limit was 55 and we were goin downhill. i was riding the brakes, he was goin about 70-75. next thing i know the plain wrapper hiding in the shadows was chasing him down. would have been nice if i could have warned him

I used to have bumper mount whip on my 87 Regal. Still have the old Cobra sitting around here somewhere, and my SWR meter. Had it attached to the Regal, then I moved it over when I got my 91 G20 conversion van, then its sat around somewhere since. No one uses 19 around here anymore. The closest interstate is 25 miles from me, and I hardly ever travel on it.
I have a handheld Midland that I can take with me, has a plug for external mic, antenna, speaker, etc.
Never really thought about putting one on the LeSabre. Already have the FM antenna in the rear glass, the OnStar on the rear glass, and the SiriusXM antenna on the trunk lid.
Have fun with that. Curious to see how it turns out.

As for what I've done lately, not a lot. Other than the occasional wash, where she promptly gets covered in road grime about 2 miles later.
Replaced a bad LF bearing/WSS. At least the original one I put in last year was still under warranty.
Put on 4 new Blizzaks. The A/* tires I had were completely done, and with the roads I drive, I figured a set of real snows would be worth it. Of course, now we have hardly gotten any snow! Not that I'm complaining, I'll take daily highs in the 40s and no snow for upstate NY in January. But I'm kinda regretting the snow tires now. They've worked great in the bit of ice and snow (especially the parking lot at work, and getting up my hill here at home) but this hasn't been much of a winter here. Go figure. Last winter I made it through worse on cheap all seasons...

i wasnt about to mount the cb on the dash either. i made a wood mount that stradles the hump in the back/center and the radio ends up being right behind the front armrest. then the antenna wires are out the back under the back seat then into the trunk. i put the ant on the trunk lid.i zip tie the wires with a loop to the trunk strut and have enough slack that i can put the ant. in the trunk without disconnecting the zipties. you can save the scratches by sticking some felt on the magnet. the antenna is very important, it doesnt matter how good your radio is it cant make any noise from a signal thats not there, especially receive. i got my lil wil from a local truck stop, i think it was a flying j. you should check that out.

ill report back with my findings.

just got back from the shack. picked up a 48" stainless whip. fiperglass was cheaper but it was white against black tint and it was also really fat. this is a ton thinner. dont think im gonna be able to pull off the trough mount though.

Driving the Bonneville from Atlanta to the ex'* house in the Florida panhandle. Forgot how awesome this thing is. I'm at 124 miles and not even a quarter tank yet. Range is also at 380, and it'* always been pretty accurate. Should only take me a tank to get there and back!
