OK, my own semi-professional estimate(worked as an inspector/estimator at an auction for 6 mos.), exhaust from the rear suspension back(new muffler and piping), left exhaust tip, rear bumper(skin, absorber, and mounts), possible minor damage to left 1/4 panel, probable minor frame damage around bumper mounts.
All in all, not too bad. It'* mostly cosmetic damage, I wouldn't say more than $2,000. If the other guy has insurance, you're set, don't worry. If he doesn't, your own insurance will try to total it, don't let them. Explain that replacing the vehicle will cost much more than repairing it, and that the car was in good condition before the accident.
Make sure the other guy got cited.
Man, that sucks. I love living at my parents', where we have a 1/4 mile of driveway between us and the closest idiot driver.
Do you have a picture with a better angle towards the exhaust tip area from underneath? Slightly more towards the outer corner, facing back?

thank you for that info gonneville! The officer only wrote down $1000. she assured me that the other driver was reported as hitting a parked car. And i have his insurance info.

(Un?)fortunately the exhaust got pushed all the way up to the downpipe, all mounts broken. Unless i get an amibitious shop, they'll probably give me downpipe-back. Can anyone say Mag-na-flow?!

My current plan is to get as much money as possible, have the exhaust done, then get a junkyard bumper and repaint it. I know a great guy for the quarter panel. The trunk closes really tightly now....i'm sure i can adjust it, but it makes me wonder what else is bent.

The car was pushed half a parking space. possible tranny damage?
