One thing about those tails, if they had been cracked, they'd have to find replacements for them, and it doesn't matter that they're no longer made. When insurance is fixing your car, they have to restore it to the same condition it was in before it got hit. That means ALL original equipment, and all aftermarket equipment that your own insurance company has documented as installed on your car. Even if the part is no longer made. If it'* a discontinued aftermarket piece, they have to find a substitute that is acceptable to YOU.

I got a call today--my papaw is going in to open heart surgery tomorrow (completely unexpected)....now that really puts the car into perspective as to what is important. He won't be able to drive a tractor for 12 weeks (if all goes well !?!) which means planting (a 3 man job) will be up to my dad and, when i'm home on weekends, me.

Well i got an estimate today. Only one dealership was open. Ready?

$3529

Here'* the parts list:

Muffler................$262
Cat......................$559
Bumper, rear.......$175
Bumper Cover.....$568
Ret, rear bumper.$4
Bumper support.. $10
Other support......$26
Bumper mount......$117
Bumper filler.........$11
Pipe......................$110
Pipe 2...................$241
Seal......................$8
Paint Material........$282
Gross Parts & Paint.........$2382

The insurance might try to talk their way out of the Cat, but everything else is pretty obvious. I can get the body work done elsewhere for $1000, (from a guy i trust) and i can get all stainless pipes and Flowmaster exhaust, Cat, and Resonator for $1200, so whatever the insurance company tries to do, i don't think i can lose.

The adjuster came out today to assess the value of damage. She tried calling NAPA and other places for aftermaket exhaust and bumpers, but couldn't find any! Mu-ahaha. So she'* gonna total it. She did say that the quality of the car would put it "well over" her book value of 3000. I won't know until tomorrow how much the settlement will be.
