The refinery I work at was just at a SEVERELY reduced output rate for a month straight and the fuel prices here were fine until last friday?
I don't think even the refineres are to blame.....I still blame OPEC and the higher ups.

This is probably why I had to sit in line to get gas today (just one car, at rush hour, so it ain't like the 70'* were). I probably got stuck behind all the people that believe this idea.
I didn't even think about what day it was. If I had, I probably would have got gas yesterday while everyone was boycotting....

the gas station round here where pretty much empty on tuesday, however those that did pump payed out the arse.. gas shot up tuesday and started to drop wednesday and today are a few cents over normal... so they didnt lose a penny over this deal... they just chared more for the fuel they did sell and it made up for it in the end...
These things never work, no one seems to understand that gas prices are all based on speculation, not by end users. Besides the crap that goes into cars is just a drop in the barrel.
Airlines, shipping (both land and water), rail and manufacturing are major users. Personal vehicular traffic can't compare.
That being said, big oil is earning record profits each quarter, so whatever, we're all suckers and we'll keep paying as we really have no control or power over this particular product.
Prices here jumped another nickel overnight just in time for the first long weekend of the summer season. 110.6 for 87 in the Toronto area.
If your car needs gas, doesnt matter what miniscule percentage of the population say or decides to boycott, you'll need to get to work and live your life, and your life needs fuel.
The only way things will change is if. Governments start regulating the industry (ha ya right), or alternative fuel vehicles become afforable alternatives. I'm sorry but I can't afford a $30 000 hybrid and E85 stations are few and far between, so screw that.

E-85 is even higher than diesel by almost $.20....
87 just shot up today, $3.399 in my town....$2.949 for E-85......and STILL $2.799 for good ol' diesel.
I think $3.399 is the highest I've EVER seen 87 in MN......I could be wrong though....
If diesel hit'* the way gasoline has.......I'll be buying a motorcycle, putting storage on all my vehicle'* ins....and riding that thing ran or shine...If it rains, well I work out side so I'm gonna get soaked anyways....lol
