My Father'* Eyes


My father'* eyes are dead
gone; the dreams of our past
the fears of my future rage
behind frigid tears

No more apologies
fake or otherwise
he has been released
from his prison, his sentence

Cold shoulders call to me
begging for one to share the grief
uncomfortable . . . and longing to be gone
this is his Legacy

Even in death
he won't look me in the eye.


i wrote this one tonight at work, after listening to "My Father'* Eyes" - a sickeningly happy song about a father that actually did his job.

Wow man, I dont really know what to say, thats good stuff, but in a bad way I guess.

I wish I had something to say, but I really dont. Its a good poem though, and writing things is a good way to let out some emotion.

Your poem is indeed a tear jerker,I seem to know those feelings all to well. It was actually three years ago this month that my dad decided he was finished.
