Sounds like pressure being relieved through a small orifice or valve acting like a check valve. Could be a vacuum reservoir bleeding down or maybe a component in the fuel or cooling system. I would suppose vacuum is the most likely.

Easy method to test this:

1. Pull the vacuum lines off the shift modulator and vacuum reservior while it'* ticking. Does it stop?

2. Bleed the fuel pressure at the rail (into a rag, the engine is hot). Does it stop?

It'* not a major problem, not even a problem.

If either of these stop the ticking, write it up to normal cooldown. Even pressing the brake pedal may stop it. Assuming it'* vacuum related.
