Default brake light and a constant chime

i changed the master cylinder and now the break light comes on and there is a constant chime. is it because i unpluged the wires that go to the master cylinder or because there isn't enough break pressure?

The wires to the master cylinder are for a level switch. If the system seems a low level it will warn you with the dinging and light.

You say you changed the master itself..if it isn't low fluid, or a faulty sensor, bleed the brakes really really well, make sure you compleatly change out all of the old fluid, if there is alot of pedal travel, most likely there is air somweres inside of your brake system.
