Yeah sounds like the EXACT same problem I had. I cleaned out the MAF and it worked perfect after that. Are you getting any check engine lights?

Mine would come on briefly while driving long distances.

Check the MAF by unplugging the wire going into it.

Then try driving your car. If it fixes the hesitation problem then its the sensor. You may not have to buy a new one, just pick up some MAF sensor cleaner from your local auto store.

Default Hesitation

I have not tried cleaning my MAF sensor. I will try that this weekend as well as checking my coils.

One issue I forgot to mention because it is such a normal routine for me each morning or each time I start the car when the engine is cold - I let it run for about 2 to 3 minutes until it warms up - kind of like a car that has a choke that does not come on - if I start the car and immediately take off I have such bad hesitation that I have to pull over and play with the gas for a bit until the engine is "happy" again before I take off - following this I am okay except for that "flat spot" or hesitation that I always experience from a dead stop no matter what the engine temp is.

Yeah thats EXACTLY what mine did to a tee.

Once i cleaned the MAF sensor I no longer had to let the car warm up. :P

my bets on the sensor.

What did you clean your MAF sensor with? I understand I should not use carb cleaner as noted above - I'll head to the parts store tomorrow to purchase a cleaner

One of the wires in the MAF sensor had a chunk of crusty gunk on it. I cleaned both wires - about 20-25 squirts from the can'* straw attachment. I took the car for a drive - no hesitation, no flat spot, lots of pickup, good shifting - an incredible change in performance for a six dollar can of cleaner.

Thanks for everyones advice on my car problems !!!!!!!

My next challenge is to work on the grab and let go braking sensation I experience when hitting the brakes - as I have noted in the thread of this topic.
