Default hesitation on acceleration

I have a 2000 Bonneville SSEi that I've had for about two years with no problems. In the past month, the car has started hesitating when I hit the gas hard to pass another car, or to go up a hill. I'm not a gearhead, so I don't know if this has something to do with the supercharger, or not. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks

My car does this once in a while, mainly when the car is not fully up to operating temps. It happens so infrequently that it'* not too much of a problem, but i'd still like to konw also.

Anytime that I have ever had a hesitation problem it has been the O2 sensor, but it could be soo many other things also, such as a short in the wires.

Is your SES on?

Try to get a scanner sometimes the SES won't come on, but the PCM records a fault of a sensor into the memory of the computer.

Agree with getting it scanned for codes. Where in NY are you?

This is my demon as well. So far i've done plugs, wires, coils, fuel filter, checked all electrical connections and im still kind of stumped. The 02 sensor diagnosis is interesting, should that throw a code? when i put my PEM'* on i switched to a Denso sensor, maybe it was faulty? how do you diagnose a bad 02 sensor?

With an OBD II scanner. (free at local autozone)

When I owned my lumina, the 02 sensor would only last a year at a time before I had to replace it. (the one before the cat) (This is still only a suggestion to check out, since the scan is free)

BTW...My SES never came on in my lumina, it stored a hard fault code in the computer memory.. but that was a '95. I only found out it was the O2 by scanning it.

Default hesitation on acceleration

Okay, thanks for the idea about the o2 sensor. I'll have it checked at autozone. What is * "PEM" and a "SES"? (I mentioned I'm not a gearhead....) PS: I'm in the Albany area.

The code reader at Autozone likely will not show it to be bad. It has to be virtually dead before it sets a code. The get weak and tired well before that. They also only carry Bosch, which do not work for very long in our cars. AC/Delco or Denso is the way to go.

PEM = ported exhaust manifold; SES = service engine soon.

Default same problem on 2001

I had the same problem on my 2001 SSEi - get on the highway, pull into the passing lane, step on the gas, and lose power. Turned out to be a cracked ceramic insulator on one of the spark plugs. It would work fine under normal conditions, but would arc out to the block under high load.

Have you changed plugs? Wires?
