Checked all the maxi fuses. But did not do so under the dash. Could do that here in a few. Coils were good. Ill pull passenger side and driver side covers and check fuse'*.
When I say all maxi fuses. I check the two that were suggested earlier. Ignition and something else. They were good.....

The wiring diagrams I have are not for the 97. They must have used different colors over the years. One diagram shows the pink/black coming from a fuse (doesn't give amperage). Another shows it coming from the fuel pump relay protected by a 20 amp fuse.
James - can you hear the fuel pump when trying to start.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 97'*?

You should not really get a fuel smell. When you turn the key to the on position, you should hear a hi pitch shound from the back of the car. It will last for 3-5 seconds and stop automatically.

I listened and didnt hear it. Come to think of it Ive never heard that sound. Would I have to get under or near the gas tank to hear it while someone puts it in run.???

I would get a fused link and try it. I you have a fuse and spare wire laying around, have at it. I would try 5 amp fuse and see what it does. Let me see if I can get a hold of Bill.

Wouldn't it be much easier to test the fuel pump test lead on the wire with the green connector behind your battery
