The Chronicles of OSG
OSG...you said bone dry. Am I correct in understanding you probably pulled the caps (if not a sealed unit) and you didn't see any water/acid in them?
If so you need to add to the proper level with water. There is usually a mark for the level.
Next item.. your charger isn't touching it. I'm going to again try an assumption. You have a newer charger that automatically shuts off and it keeps telling you the battery is done charging because it sees no volts at all. (I had one and gave it to an enemy) If this is the case, pm me and I can give you some advice off line. A battery can usually be revived unless the lead flakes are grounding it out and it sounds like yours is probably too new for that.

The battery is not like 7 or 8 volts guys, it is .23 volts. less than 1/4 of a volt. I would consider this to be about as bone dry as can be.
It is a sealed unit.
the charger says 'fault' as like it would if no battery was hooked up to it. it does this on the old battery too, which btw i still have in case it'll come in handy somehow.
if a boost is required, i have two friends willing to help. anyone know which car would be better suited? 96 cherokee or 91 taurus?
The alt i have in the car is already on it'* way out.. sometimes it charges, sometimes it doesn't. it'* several years old by now. it went while we were driving up from FL when we moved.. so 99, yeah 6 years old.

Hmmm Cherokee or Taurus... Are either side terminal where you could hijack the battery into your car to get is fired up. I'm saying this as a temporary thing to start it and try it out.
Jumper cables don't give a really good connection and in your battery'* state you might not be able to get it started with just a boost.

my jumper cables are no ordinary jumper cables. They weigh about 50lbs, and are probably 6-8ft long. They are monsters. Trust me. If anything will start that car, those cables will.
I'm pretty sure the jeep is top, the taurus is probably side, but like i said in the pm, i doubt these girls will let me 'borrow' their battery. Boosting is no problem though, they are willing to do that..
