i've noticed that these engines seem to be lying around everywhere...a dime a dozen where i'm at...so if you calculate the market'* oversaturation, a replacement is probably always cheaper...

its probably that the piston messed up the block because it is seized...

nate has found a motor for me about 45 min away for $400 plus tax... out of a 98 GTP with 100k... mr beans deal sounds good also, but its in michigan, and i want this thing ASAP...

my dad is looking at doing the swap this week/weekend because the car is just taking up space at his shop, and i dont want him to push it outside

things are really turning positive, i hope we can stay on this stream

If the block is somewhat ok, you could always have it bored out with some oversize pistons (I assume they make em for GPs) and some aftermarket heads. :P

But that is getting expensive, one can dream tho...

arent aftermarket heads like a thousand or more? not in the budget right now....not even close

Yeah actually just looked into it more, cheapest ones on Intense'* site are $1700. Not really feasible :P

And it was still in the car, and fired right up, no smoke out the exhaust, and purrs like about 260 kittens....or what ever the engine had for HP lol.

Revs nicely and quickly too....This one wants to live.

now thinking about the old engine... when it was choking at 2.5k RPM'*...what was actaully happening...cuz it wasnt a vacuum leak or such as we were thinking... what was going on those last 30 miles?

My guess would be that the engine was detonating...early signs, like piston was melting.

like the hole was getting bigger and bigger?? cuz the problem once it started...didnt seem to be getting any worse until it finally went..
