Wow, that is nice looking. One heck of a deal even if it requires a few thousand to make it perfect.

hope its not a main bearing or a thrown rod

This is probably the one thing I forgot to say had an issue. The sender went bad, as it does many times on these cars, I never replaced the sender so it stays 'pegged'. Oil pressure was just fine.

Ok, here is my take. I did everything I could possibly do to disclose EVERYTHING that was wrong with this car down to the last thing anyone could nitpick about. That car has made MANY 1000+ mile trips and ALWAYS got me there. I drove it 700 miles to wisconsin a month ago and pulled the modified heads off of it and put the stock ones back on and drove it ANOTHER 700 miles home the next day... not a hiccup.

That motor has been a tank. It has held up without having a single issue on MANY track passes and ran strong for what it had. I have always taken care of it to keep KR under control and never let it run with KR sans some on a hot track day that was fixed with race fuel.

There are MANY possible things that could be wrong here. I HOPE it ends up being something simple. When he first called me we tried to diagnose it as best we could. At this point it was sputtering, not idling very good but there was no mechanical noise that he could tell. As such I HOPE (as bad as that is) that having it sit for a month and running month old gas clogged the fuel filter and now it just doesn't have the gas to run. As such, I also hope it'* something as simple as the alt going out and the batt dying *original batt* and thus not enough power to keep it running and now, not enough to start it.

The worst case scenario I have in my head is a hole in the piston, fuel soaked oil, and a seized crank from the bearings wearing out from fuel in the oil. This car had a pulley on it that was too small for it. I told him that a few WOT passes if he forgets are not going to kill it as the knock sensors should save it. However I know as we all do when we get a new car we have fun with it, and IF the worst happend, the boost did it in and the piston gave out.

As for my personal feelings when he told me it wouldn't turn over anymore and the noises it made I felt like one of my dogs just died.... I have a lot of history with that car and it'* motor and a lot of sweat into it with mods and demods.. setting some records for the SSEi crowd as far as times with little mods and hanging in there with a higher financed RogueSSEi durring a year of racing. I blew the trans in it, etc. Right now I feel horrible and just don't know what to say. I would NEVER knowingly sell a car, specially this kind of car, with a defect or something broken that would cause it to fail. BECAUSE he is being such a good sport about this I am MORE than willing to help in it'* rebuild should it need it. As he said, we spent probably an hour or more total on the phone trying to diagnose any issues we could. I have also given Ed Morad the heads up he may need a motor and he is ready to help him out as much as he can as a favor to me.

I am glad to see that your still positive here and can't wait to get it up to the status you know it can be with some work. Just sucks BAD that the motor needs to be worked on so soon, it was the heart of that car and a freak of a heart.

As I asked, keep me posted. And again, I am willing to help however possible. I DO know how you feel in a way as it'* probably how I felt after toasting the trans in it 5 WOT runs after the heads went on it. It was stranded 100 miles from home for a week till I could limp it home in 2nd.

*sigh* I'm depressed about this.. I hope it is something simple...
