ok, it looked as if you cut the walls to support or elevate the exchanger. i know they dont "support".

now the silver solder you mentioned. is that to seal the LIM and the core?

Not silver solder. Aluminum solder. It'* to re-solder the 180° fittings back onto the slightly shortened core for install. The core is slightly too long to fit where it needs to.

ok now i get it. the "u-bends", that are in the bottom of the pic, prevent the core from fitting into the LIM. so, thats what you have to sweat on.

how do the nipples of the core exit the LIM?

I have to rub them to make them hard (or put them out in the cold).

Nothing holds it in place. It'* not installed yet. When it is, you'll see. If you go back and read my posts on the previous page, the mechanics of the setup won't be revealed until they're ready.

Please keep your questions related to the functionality and efficiency for now, rather than the mechanics of the fit.

Over the last 5 years, countless times I've been up to something, it never fails some bozo tries to jump on it too soon and try to beat me to it, and mucks something up.

I want to make sure it works really well not only on my own, but on another car as well (Series 2), then cut the whole thing loose with all the details. I'm only sharing what I know is an absolute positive right now. The thermal efficiency. I've had this thing assembled mechanically in 3D CAD for about 5 months now. From that point, it was component selection.
