Performance, Brainstorming & Tuning Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Really worth 7-12 horse power?Throttle enhancer?

I was actually going to ask that zoomer dude that but you already answered my question 95.

But hey you were the one who told me not to get rockers If Im gonna go cam. Wont I need 1.7'* if Im gonna go cam with a supercharger?

Looks like the only thing I can do right now is some light rims.

I would gain nothing with headers right now right? I dont want pems because I know Ill need headers in the end.

Yeah I probably told you to forget rockers if you're going with a cam. I forgot that'* what you wanted to do.

You don't need 1.7'* for a cam. Some people do it to get a little extra lift on a smaller cam.

I don't think you would gain nothing with headers right now. A GP ran 14.6 with TOG'*, a cat back, and a CAI. That track was real close to sea level though. Headers will help out alot with reducing KR when you get the */c kit. Might be worth it.

I got lighter rims (15lb) and the new wheel/tire combo yeilded a 3 lb difference. The butt dyno didn't really feel it. But it might still be there.

I dunno I would do the headers.... Find some used ones at CGP.

You had crosslaced rims though didnt you?

I just been hearing so many negative things about people who go with 20 inch chrome rims because of the weight and how it kills performance, so i wonder if going lighter helps in a big way as much as going heavy kills you

Yeah I had the crosslace so you might see a bigger difference. Just remember tires are heavier than the rims sometimes.

It should. I've read that for every lb rotating mass it could be considered 8lbs stationary weight. So, 3lbs times 4 tires times 8lbs conversion should give me a 96 lb advantage.
How someone got that 8lb thing, i dunno. It seems kinda shakey to me.

And chrome plating reduces the strength of metal by 1/2. So the big 20" chrome wheels have to be beefed up too.

On a stock engine you will probably not see much of a HP change over the stock throttle body. You should feel snappier throttle response especially down low.

If you have sufficient mod’* to the point the stock throttle body is becoming a limiting factor the advertised improvement seems reasonable.

The basic equation for flow through a tube is F=A/ (L*fc)
F= flow
A= cross-sectional area
L= length
fc= flow coefficient

Most of the improvement from porting (head, manifold, throttle body, etc...) is from the reduction of (fc), less flow resistance gives higher flow rates and velocity.

As far as wheels are concerned, you will see most of the “horse power” improvement in your 60’ times and braking distance. The biggest benefit is reducing un-sprung weight, allowing the suspension to work better.
