Default Intense PCM

A few questions...

What exactly does a PCM do? Is it worth the money changing my factory one to an intense one? And finally, does it make a difference in performance.

Ya'll probably think I'm nuts for asking this but I know nothing about this stuff.

Oh and also, I know people change their pulley'* but to what?

Sounds like this should be moved?

The PCM usually comes AFTER other power-adding mods. Or at the same time. Not by itself.

I'll move this to Performance and Brainstorming for you.

Thanks for moving it, didn't really think about it when I posted it in general

Ok, well after I get whatever issues I am having now fixed, I plan on doing some mods, but have no clue what to do, ie...pulley'* and such

I upgraded my PCM before any other mods but that was for one big mod called an engine and transmission. Now I have a 3.4" pulley which is a good option for a basic SSEi. I gained dramatically just from the PCM upgrade over stock. You will notice a big difference with shift points and rev limits increased. Go to a 3.4" pulley and you will also tell a huge difference. Huge. Stock is 3.8" by the way.

Can we PLEASE keep the off-topic chitchat in the Lounge? This topic isn't about the Bronco'*. It was a question about PCM'*.

The short answer go to Intense'* website it'll answer your questions.

The long answer It changes shift points, it gives much firmer shifts, it tells the fan to stay on for two minutes after the car is shut off, it does give a gain in horsepower.

I got mine as a first mod and I fell in love with it, it really wakes the car up. Just as a thought you may want to go with a 180* thermostat, that will help in the long run.

Look into a freer flowing exhaust also.
