I've gotten to 170 km/h when I had to out run an idiot in his 97 Aurora who thought he was cool beans. Thats 105 mph, not bad for an old bat of a car

The fastest I've gone is slightly above 220kph, that'* about 137mph.
My Bonnie'* speedometer only goes to 200kph (120mph), but I was passing my friend'* car who'* speedometer went to 240kph, and he was going 220kph. We've estimated that I was going about 15kph faster then him, but we have no way of knowing exactly how fast I was going.
Just for a safety note, I rarely take the car over 140kph.
But it'* good to know she can and will do +200. (Mostly for bragging rights to my friends with rice cars and neon'*).

What I think is cool is that we're talking about a sedan being capable of near-exotic car speeds. 155 is plenty fast. I'd reached about 130 in my 76 GP, but the thing was nearly airborn. The SSEi is a delight at speed. Tracking straight and feeling stuck to the road is a lot more fun at 120 than 130 was in that old battlewagon. And it didn't take 5 minutes to get to that speed either. Of course, aerodynamically, that car was more like a snow plow than a sports car.

Sounds like there'* a difference in generations of the HUD as far as what speeds it'll display before reset. It may actually be the VSS (not the wheel speed sensors, they're only for traction/abs). The newer ones appear to be limited, but the HUD goes higher than 200, while the older HUDS reset at 200, and don't limit the VSS/HUD speed to 159.
Odd. But that'* GM, right?

Hmmm...I'm sure it is possible with mods to do 170 mph. The speed sensors are quoted to be limited to 159 mph. I wonder if the GTP guys just show pics of the HUD at 170 kph and say it'* in mph because the HUD doesn't differentiate between kph and mph.

Turtle_SSE was clocked by radar (and documented) at an ungodly speed. He'* topped me. It'* true. I took a pic of my HUD at 132, but I reached for the camera (while watching the road) when I was passing through 120. The problem is that you have to hold the camera right in front of your face. I was literally driving by the LCD on the camera and what I could see around the camera with my left eye. That'* not something I'll ever do again.
A couple of the guys here have seen that pic. I shot it on this past memorial day.

The HUD and wheel speed sensors are limited to 159 mph....so the book says.
You have to be careful with the limiter because it will kick down into 3rd gear under 128 mph and then the 108 mph 3rd gear limiter will arrest your speed.
Careful throttle application in 4th will see it go up to the 4th gear limiter of 128.
I can hardly wait to get rid of those pesky limiters.
