The Silverado and I made a really quick, middle of the night 2am race to the ER. My dad has had a history of heart problems, and got up with intense pain in his left arm.
Where we live, it would have easily taken 20 minutes for the squad to get a bus up here, and another at least 35 to get to the ER on these roads with your typical rig. And that'* assuming you could get a volunteer squad up at 2am.
So I grabbed my med bag (I'm Red Cross trained, and carry that kit wherever I go), fired up the truck, and took off. Kept one eye on him, one eye on the road, especially for deer out here in the country. Cell phone ready, and my 2m tuned to the local dispatch.
I normally drive this stretch in the dark 5 days a week, at least on the way to work, and it takes me 45 minutes doing the limit. I was at the ER door in just over 30. Would have been less, except I caught the eye of a trooper when I turned on a main road, just 5 miles away from the hospital, where there are major speed limit changes all over. Sure enough, he pulled over, let me pass, then jumped on my tail. I kept it right at the speed limits. I figured that the last few miles, I might as well drive the low limits rather than waste my time with officer friendly by the side of the road, and trying to explain what was going on.
As for dad, he was having another mild heart attack apparently... I kinda knew this was likely. His quad bypass surgery months ago somehow just went bizzerk. ICU has stabilized him for now, waiting on the next move.

The Bonneville made it to Arizona today! I love the Jeep, but nothing beats the Bonneville for a daily driver.
I have been in AZ since the 1st of November. Placed a ad on Craigslist to find someone wanting to drive from Illinois to Arizona. Found a 62 year old unemployed man looking for something to do. He drove 1700 miles in two days. Picked it up on time and delivered it on time. Could not of gone any better.
I felt bad for the man. He told me he has been unemployed for 3 years, and it is hard to find a job at his age. It is a shame, he showed up on time, completed the job on time, worked hard over the two days (almost 800 miles per day). I can't get most Army guys to do what he did......

my bonneville has been sliding toward the hate side of our love hate relationship lately. just finished the new front wheel bearings this weekend, just to find there was a puddle of something oil or power steering fluid. and i replaced the lower intake gaskets/upper intake/aluminum elbow and all the hoses, and when i checked the bottle now it still has a leak. uggh

I have had that from time to time over the years with our Bonnys. I almost junked my Bonny last year after returning from Kuwait with sitting water in the interior, and the interior wiring harness having huge issues. COuld not find replacment carpet. I finally fixed all the wiring issues and bought the carpet. I go to bed at night knowing most Bonny problems are minir, when fixed the car is awesome, and it is super comfortable. I am so glad I kept the Bonny and have it today as a daily driver. No payment, nice ride, great fuel economy.... and super dependable.

the love part i guess is the car is fairly easy to work on, i looked at the ps pump and thought it was going to be a night mere but just now went through dans write up on it and its easier than alot of rwd ones. and cheaper too. with 180k ive never messed with it seems reasonable enough. just the coolant is driving me crazy at this point, i cant think of anything i havent replaced or inspected thoroughly.

I've been working around the house and I needed to get outside. I grabed the keys to the GP and took it up to the store.

I my brand new shiny emblem in the mail today for the GP since the old one peeled off years ago when it de-laminated. I really did like the black one. I may end up putting it back on.
