The staff isn't making anyone become a 'post *****' by pushing CBN up in the rankings. No one here posts useless comments, unless 'Lounge' threads are 'useless.' There'* nothing wrong with Lounge posts (which don't even count), and some jokes and things now and then. Jokes and 'fun' comments, etc., aren't useless. It would be boring if every post made was technical and informational. We have to talk more about just mechanical things. Our personalities consist of more than "I love Bonnevilles."
Yes, a lot of people like rankings and status, but by pushing CBN up doesn't mean you have to post useless comments to get there. Just because it will take someone longer to get to CBN, doesn't mean they have to post just anything. Jason has 1000'* more posts than me and he joined several months after I did. But that doesn't mean he posts useless crap. He doesn't!
But this site is different from others. No one is racing to get to be a CBN by posting useless material. I don't think there'* a problem on this site with people posting simply just to make a rank. It'* fun to become a new rank, get another star, etc., but this new ranking isn't going to cause a huge chaos of 'post ******.'
If it makes people more active, then that'* a good thing. Everyone has something to contribute to the forum. If they contribute more because they want to hold a rank, there'* nothing wrong with that.
