I personally don't look at the ranks.....

I know when I post a question.....I know the top ten ppl on here that will ALWAYS reply..
They are always helpful, courteous and respectful....and that is all that matters to me.
It didn't take me long on this board to learn who these very important ppl are either...

I think the stars/rank are fun....but I don't really care how many I have...
Regarding making "useless posts" to make ranks: it depends on what you consider useless....a lot of what might be considered useless to some involves people just interacting or being funny...which is part of what makes this sight so...personable...and nobody wants to purposely post anything that will just make them look like an idiot...

Oh man.... I got demoted again....
First it was the server crash of 2003.... now it'* the rank changing of early 2004.
I'm never going to make it to my drivetrain (of my 97SSEi) at this point...

Admins....Stop moving the carrot!!!! lol

742 posts to Northstar..... (nearly double my current posts)
and the final star... CBN is so distant from my point of view right now hell I can't even see it... lol

I should think this new rank system should do us for a while.
We currently have 2077 members... and of those.....
....only 4 members above the 3000 post count
....only 9 members in the 1500-3000 post count
....only 10 members in the 1200-1500 post count
....only 13 members in the 800-1200 post count
....only 11 members in the 600-800 post count
....only 16 members in the 400-600 post count
....only 21 members in the 300-400 post count
....only 18 members in the 200-300 post count
....only 155 (out of 2077) members have 100 posts or more
....1922 members have less then 100 posts....

I agree with Christine, and want to add my overdue thanks. This is a great site. I personally don't really care what I'm ranked as or how many posts I have. I post when I feel like it and feel that maybe I have something to contribute (which, in forums where it counts, isn't often ). Although, many of the things we discuss here are actually serious of nature and about a passion we all share ( the Bonneville), we have to remember a lot of this is fun and online socialization between people. I'd think most of us (hopefully everyone) is here because they want to be and not because we are trying to achive any status. So, smile , relax and let'* just continue to enjoy are forums and the hard work of our admins and mods (thanks guys! )who make this all nice for everyone.

Never fear. The carrot won't be moved for a VERY long time. That was the whole point of this. We should be set for future growth for at least the next year.
