Russ, your rants did NOT fall on deaf ears. They were just drowned out for a bit. I appreciate your composure and self control. Everyone is free to state an opinion. Especially if they show maturity when doing so, like you did.

This is natural evolution. We had another rank to add in honor of our new GXP. It seemed fitting to make it 5.5 stars and bump CBN up to 6. So you GAINED A HALF STAR. The name changed. BFD.
You remember as well as I do where this rank came from. It was a JOKE. It had no post count associated with it. Jeff created that rank for me a long time ago. It wasn't until Hector and I made our first rank shuffle that we actually made it official.
Any post whoring for the sole purpose of increasing rank and 'chasing the dream' will be dealt with just as it always does. If it'* out of line or flagrant, the Moderators delete it.
Jim and Pete made some VERY good comments in this thread. I suggest you read them again. We ADDED TO and ADJUSTED the RANK structure, for crissakes. Because we growing so damn fast! Do you know how many times I've done this? Most people don't even NOTICE most of the time!
So here it is: We delete the new rank, and drop all the counts back to where they were. In 6 months we'll have as many CBN'* as any other rank, and in time, everyone will be one. Helluva ranking structure.
Or we delete the rank structure altogether.
Or we leave it like it is now. Ready for growth.

CBN is attainable, just not as quickly attainable. 
This forum will never result in a post ***** free-for-all just to become a CBN. We are too classy a board for that. I don't see that happening to where it will become a problem.

There was maybe a week or two when I was just posting for posts. I just have a fast connection, and classes that require laptops. I'm not really an 'old guy' but i was here before our recent member explosion.
It'* attainable. I sure as hell didn't care about CBN when i wasn't one. (But tonight...being 17 posts away when i came on.... and lotsa topics to read up on...)

I like the new ranks...I say keep 'em.
As as for being antagonistic...well, maybe. But I'm a little cheesed off at basically being told my opinions don't count for anything just because I don't happen to venture outside the lounge much. I don't currently own a Bonneville so I have little to say in other boards. Do I even belong here? Well, that'* no one'* call but mine.
