I actually read this whole thing! Opinions yes...dribble? Not really.
I agree with some of the posts about what really matters here...discussions about our cars.
I know rank matters to some people, and having something (no matter what it is) taken away when you have it is tough. I know that some people could get upset.
I vote to leave it where the admins have put it. They have a tough job when it comes to making decisions on the site...but that is what they are charged with and i say let them do their job. Let'* just remember why we are here.
I know i have not been around long, but like a few of the posts said, we all have reasons to be heard...not just because of our post count.
i would like to think my comments are just as valueable (well, sometimes) as someone with thousands of posts.
Perhaps the question of what should be done could have gone out first. Opinions brough in - then the staff make the final decisions! Not saying that either way is correct, just a suggestion perhaps for the future.

The only thing I have to add is this.
I know the ranks have been tweaked on numerous occasions. It should have been way back that CBN should have been at that "3800" wich truely makes sense. I think it may not be as much the fact that it got tweaked again but that those few that did have CBN were not notified about it. Maybe if those few people would have got a pm or something just so that they had a heads up then I bet thigns would have gone differently. The only thing that bothered me in this whole thing is that us "simple members" didn't have a say in it.
As you can see I have been here longer than Jim, longer than Will, longer that quite a few, but my posts are only at less than 400. Reason being is that if I don't feel my opinion will be that helpfull in sections that count I don't give it. Now lounge on the other hand well, that is different since it doesn't count.
I guess cause I have been around since before CBN and it was something I knew I would never hit and it keept changing. Just a simple heads up is all, and there wouldn't have been many PM'* either maybe 4, takes a couple minutes and done. But instead we all wasted hours last night in this and "I WANT A REFUND", LOL.
I know that you can't please everyone but this felt more like the way some governments are run, "we decided what we want and screw the little people". That is all I am saying. I know some will agree with me and some will not, but that is just my opinion.
Again I agree with CBN being at 3800 completely it was just the way it was done is all.

Little people? We did this for the little people, if that'* what you want to call them.
We promoted two little people, and nobody noticed for 6 hours. Same goes for Jeff'* rank.
We added a new rank, and gave CBN back some of it'* lustre. Did we consult the board? No. The Admins do make some decisions on their own. They also consult the Moderators when they feel it'* appropriate to do so. The Admins also consult the members when they feel it'* necessary. We actually wanted to 'surprise' all of you. We did alot yesterday. Negativity in this thread drew everyone'* attention away from the important part of it.
As stated before, I like this site. I'm pleased that Jeff trusts us with it until his return, and I'll do everything to deserve that trust. I'm not going to start a precedent of asking the members' opinions on every little matter, only to have it changed when Jeff returns. We have established our 'operating strategy' and it'* never been complained about before. Regardles of the loud negative voices in this thread, the quiet positive voices overwhelm. This includes the 7 YM windows I had open last night.
The vast majority is pleased with the changes made here (and not all have stated their opinions, as they don't want to be 'jumped on').

It'* hard for me to understand how changing the ranking system changes the way anyone is perceived here.
I have a good feel for people'* strengths and character regardless of those. Anyone else who is a regular here should have established perceptions about the others in this forum.
People that have higher rankings post more frequently (with the exception of staff). What is the deeper meaning?

As you can see WILL I am not the only one that feels that way as you may have thought last night.
I told you last night that many will NOT speak up. And again it was just simply the way it was done. One post asking for an opinion is all, problem solved. Since the Ranks has always been a biger issue than some think. GO back to when you first started and you will remember.
It IS a small issue I agree but it was the way it was done. Suprise or not it affects all members.

And whether they lost CBN or not, the only thing they 'lost' was those 3 words from their avatar. Those words don't change the significance of those members.

Guys, this is a free site. The members, administrator, and moderators are all awesome people. This is not any individual'* site. No one gets a higher say than anyone else, regardless of "rank".
Just stating my opinion here...I know I have a low post count, and I'm a relatively new member, BUT the administrators and moderators do these things for US. I agree with the new rankings and would like to thank the admins and mods for everything they do once again.

No one but the Staff, and there'* a reason why they get the final say. They've been chosen to their positions because they are trusted to do what is best for the WHOLE site, not just for a few select members that feel they are "special" because they've been here longer, have more posts, have more knowledge...
