how to buy gas, my little foul mouthed rant...
the pump locks arn't illegal here...but i have noticed that several places have goten rid of them or filed down the notch so it wont hold...I didn't use them to much extent anyway...id put the pump in the car, lock the handle and just stand there watching the $$.$$ go upwhile the amount of gas in gallons only goes up and less than half as fast.....
i normally use exxon and love the whole speedpass thing, it is wonderful, never have to take my wallet out of my pocket! just swipe the keyring thing and start pumping!
Where ever you are from things are a lot different.
I have never been to a station without pump locks, that HAS pre-pay, and I don't drive a big SUV. I'd actually be willing to bet my car gets almost half again as many miles to the gallon as your van

We have handle locks here. I use them and just stand there to keep an eye on how much is going in the tank. When it clicks off I'm done. I keep my car clean so I don't have to worry about throwing out garbage or cleaning windows. If by some chance I do have something that needs to be thrown away I do that before I start pumping gas.
i work at a gas station too so most of those hit home
we have the handle locks here in MO too, i didnt know they were illegal anywhere.
I hate ppl who dont pay for their gas, like just last night i had a $40 drive off, BUT i saw the car, and got the plates...which leads me to my story:
the vehicle was an 80s Chevy Blazer, blue, lifted with big tires....sticks out like a sore thumb in a town like the one in which i work, doubtful theres another one that looks remotely like it.
the plate # i wrote down was 067-JL1....it was a long ways off, i can see pretty dang good, but the window adds some distortion too it.
I called the cops, gave them the info, an officer comes by bout 10-15 minutes later to get my info for a report....he then proceeds to tell me that a vehicle matching the description i gave was sited across town...BUT that the plate was wrong....i was like "well i wasnt 100% sure of the plate" he goes "well let me go check what the plate was on it" he comes back and says "well the plate on the vehicle is 067-RL1.....but they havent decided if theyre going to stop it or not".....my mouth fell to the floor....and the only words i could muster were "well it probably couldnt hurt!"....i mean my gawd!
dumb ppl for driving off and not paying......subpar law enforcement for just.....amazing me with the fact that because i was one letter off on the plates they wont pull them over, even though theres probably only one vehicle in town that looks like that....heck ask em to come back and see me
the image of that truck is etched into my cerebrum, i would know it anywhere....

Interesting story Hoov. You are lucky actually, I'm pretty sure im MI they won't even come to the station for a report unless you have a plate that give a return to the vehicle you describle.

Well if the other report says it'* a 80s style blazer .... DUH! I have noticed intelligence and education are no longer a prerequisite in our area. They even take people with just High Scool diplomas. When I lived in Colorado you had to have at least a political science or social science degree just to be considered for the training.
