those velcro strips that home depot and lowes sell for wires and hoses work awsome, and they are reusable.

I'll risk the law

actually people who pump with their doors open are often preparing to leave in a hurry, and don't get turned on in the first place.

secondly, door open or not, if they're gas pumping and you're washing your windows,

*PUMP STOP*

guesss that would kind of defeat the purpose of taping it up. if i have to stand there anyway and pretend to be pumping. i could buy a dummy just for that.

Not in Arkansas. Here the law requires someone "remain in sight of the vehicle while pumping gas." I wash my windshield, too. I always wondered why the gas pumps in Florida didn't have locks. I thought they were just too cheap to maintain their equipment.
As far as the anger thing, that can go both ways. Check this out, it'* old but still socially relevant:

I like the part that says:"I have told you a million times not to make shambles of my candy isle so I have no other choice but to tell you once again not to make shambles out of my candy isle. Have a nice day."
No gun, huh? Where is your store again?

Or just move to a state where they pump it for ya. In Oregon it is state law that all gas is full service. Even if you want gas for your mower, you give them the can and they pump it.

We got the handle locks in MN. That'* you one rule I do break (and I've worked at a couple of stations). I use the handle locks, I wash my windows, but I never ever go back inside the car!!! Losing my car or my life because I was just too lazy to stand there and watch the numbers just don't sound like a good idea to me.

And i always pay at the pump. The man who invented that should be sainted. Not that there'* anything wrong with the nice folks inside the station, but the quicker the better for me....

In NY handle locks are now illegal, but here in PA where I am some are missing, others intact Doesnt necessarily mean there not illegal , cause alot of the laws dont make it here quick.....Ya know, we lived with the convienence of locking handles for 50 years or so and the locks are supposed to let go when gas reaches the nozzle. Problems only began as gas stations become little supermarkets and the owners working on a margin became lazy and cheap about maintanence and state inspection services thin to save a buck.
