It does surprise me how much trouble a simple pcv valve gave you...definately a lesson learned

Gotta be more careful, tsk tsk. Glad to hear its back in working order though. No higher than 3500rpm? Man why dont ya give them plugs a good check too. Probably carbon built up all around em. If i was driving that car, it would be redlined from every stop. Like mine.

Now don't go revving it up for nothing...if it isn't used to it..prolly has carbon build up and you might crack a ring going too far.

Yeah, it sees 3500rpm regularly, a little higher sometimes, just enough to clean out any crap. Redline once in a blue moon, but it'* so thrashy and gutless up there, it'* pretty pointless.


The PCV valve has never been taken care of since we came into posession of the car, and I have no idea whether or not it'* been taken care of before that. Brittle old rubber :(

only 3,500? You do realize that the LN3 3800 redlines at 5,000 RPM or so, right? It doesn't have to rev high to make its power. It makes maximum torque at around 2,000 RPM. If that car was redlined everyday like you suggest, do you really think it would have made the over 200,000 miles it has? I really doubt it. I'd rather have a engine with carbon in it than an engine that'* worn out from being abused.
