repin: If you do pull the intake, please take a few shots of your lifter valley for me. And possibly what kind of oil you use, and how well the car was taken care of, etc..

Because the car has been in the household for only the past 47,000 of its 321,000km life, I can't really give you too much on the details. Oil used tends to be what'* cheap, but 10W-30 as far as I know. The motor sees up to maybe 3500rpm regularly as my dad'* daily.

Duly noted with the lifter valley shots. I'll see what I can do, but because I won't be doing the brunt of the mechanical work, hopefully I'll be around the car before it'* all together again.

Don't worry too much about the shots, but it shows a lot about how well the car is taken care of.. or has been. Also, be sure when you replace the intake seals, use a good amount of gasket maker, because that'* what leaked on my car.. the whole reason for the top end rebuild [although I did go a little past necessity].

Have fun learn a few things, and take a few pics while you are at it. I like seeing other people'* engines

The second pic shows the route in which the offending piece went in at the back of the manifold. You see what'* left of it also. And, Justin'* oil question is answered. Specifically which one is in the motor right now, I have no idea.

And oh yes, CLOTH-interiored SSE!

So the piece fell in the intake through the PCV Valve? Are you talking about that black hole thing where the 90* elbow goes in on the PCV Valve? Yeah, mine broke too.. you just gotta JB-Weld it back in.. it'* the only way.

So, the piece was fished out, the below pics show it. It actually fell into the intake port in the head - luckily it was too big to fall very far at all.

As seen: Neighbour'* '87 LE, the removed intake, ports, what'* underneath, blah blah.

Not bad for 200,000 miles, huh?

Ahhh, excellent. I'm glad you were successful getting that little bastard out of there.
