There wouldn't be ANY vapors anyways...so long as the gas cap itself is still there.

Make sure he is charged with CRIMINAL trespass, not simple trespass, and also, ask the cops if you can file charges for destruction of property, because he had to damage your car in order to siphon from it. You should also ask for recompense for damage to your anti-siphon screen, and ask if he can be charged with possession of criminal tools.
