It would be fun to watch if he chose the wrong type of pump.

Default cam

Did the night camera thing with two different night vision cams recording to a VCR.
It produced nothing. The SOB must have seen the glow of the infrared lenses at night.
Cop finally told me, get the driveway patrol, when it goes off look out the window and positive ID the SOB and call us. Thats enough to convict.
SOB backed off when he saw all the security stuff set up in the yard.
Trust me, its someone in the neighborhood, may even be next door.

Police have been called. I requested that a police officer patrol the area between 12am (my bedtime) and 6am. They patrol the area down the road anyways, so they said my area will be watched. Hopefully they catch the SOB. I put a 1/2 tank in last night, and so far so good.

If it were me, I would rig up a switch that would close when the filler door is opened, which in turn will set off the alarm, or just the horn.

Or put a sign in the window that says "Stop what you are doing. Turn towards (whatever direction your house/apartment is in, or towards some other landmark), wave, and smile. You've now been caught on camera."

Or....some of that exploding dye when he opens up that filler door. Or a stink bomb.

If you put an electrical switch in an area where fuel vapors are concentrated I doubt you'll need an alarm or anything; the explosion should be enough to wake up the neighborhood and the perp will be one of the things in flames laying in your front yard.

How? What would be the difference between that....and the lock solenoid on the SSE/is?

There wouldn't be ANY vapors anyways...so long as the gas cap itself is still there.

I can't believe it......................

THEY CAUGHT THE PERP!!!!!!

I am NOT kidding you.

At least he was stupid enough to get caught! Especially at midnight! What a bad time to steal gas, especially when I was awake!

The son of a biotch was stealing gas from the DeVille next door, when the cops busted him! They were coming around the corner, and saw him, and they must have flipped their lights on. The kid didn't even bother to run because he had a siphon pump and was caught in the act! I went outside to see what was going on, and sure enough, it was him, the kid I suspected from down the road!

And to top it off? He had one of OUR gas cans he must have took a while ago. I was wondering where that can went. Anyways, the neighbor and I both pressed charges, and he is being charged with 2 counts of trespassing, and 2 counts of theft. I told the police that my gas has been for quite a while, and they said it was most likely him since he had one of our gas cans that was stolen a few weeks ago. When they arrested him they found

A 2 Gallon gas can
A 5 Gallon gas can
A manual siphon pump
A long flexible plastic? rod (exactly what I expected so he could bust out the screens)
A screwdriver

I just cannot believe that he was busted so quickly. Apparently he knew what cars took premium, and found that mine was locked now, and went next door, which happens to be a corner house, so that'* how the cops busted him because he was clearly visible.

I feel so much better now, yet I still fear my car will be vandalized because I pressed charges. :?

Lesson? Don't steal a gas can that clearly has "GOINS" (last name) written on it.
