ITS A BLESSING!!!
it has to be something else i can get to keep the car cooler beside a manual switch. I get tired of some ppl when they say that there car never gows passed 200*. How can i do this? I want in on the secret
cooler thermostat with a fan override is how you do it, as long as the car is running correctly. you mentioned the temp that it runs at, did it run in that range before this instance?

Everything in the cooling system has to be operating correctly.... The radiator, the water pump, and the like, right down to the sensors...
My cars are NA'd....
The SC engine will develop more heat than the NA'd motors...
And is that car a 96 or 97?
My cars for the most part will stay under 200F unless I am in a lot of stop and go driving without the Ac on... At 220F the fans come on and cool it down...
Also everyone need to understand that the engine is not the only component to create heat.... The trany will create heat no matter what the situation... Idling in gear will creat a good amount of heat... Even idling in park will heat the tranny up...
And depending on the model year, the AUX tranny cooler was killed off in the SC'd bonneville...
Now lets as this question, what cools the transmission?
The Coolant in the radiator flows over the cooler inside the radiator to cool the trans, the internal trans cooler is inside the passenger side of the radiator, after the coolant had ran over the trans cooler and picked up some of that heat it then returns to the engine... If the trans is super hot ( I have seen them fun from 180-230F ) then a chunk of that coolant returning to the engine has been somewhat heated...
Everything adds up in terms of operating temps.... Its not one single thing that causes the car to heat up...
Lately here its been in the mid 90'* with 96-97% humidity.... In traffic I was doing 210 once I got moving again the temps dropped back down to 180F, untill I hit all that traffic again... That oversized monster of a tranny cooler I added better than a couple of years ago, along with that 180F T-Stat has gone a long ways in keeping my car running cooler... So please understand that it is not uncommon for any of these cars LN3,L27,L36 and all L67'* to see 220F in summer driving conditions...

dont get mad at me for bringing up my old topic but i was wondering why is it that with the a/c on, my car will get hotter and want to go to 240* sometimes? On the expressway it will go to 200*-215*. the 240* temps scare me and i cut the a/c off. I can get in another car and i can see how there temp gauge is and it never go over 200*.i tried the 180* stat before and that is when i noticed the temperature increase. Do i need to get another radiator?
