Indeed.

Took it for a spin to Advanced Auto (5 min drive, very casual too), and developed a knock on the way back. Not known at this time if it is coming from a rod or if it is somewhere else. Oil pressure is holding steady and firm at 40 psi, so thats a good sign.

Video of the sound will be up soon.

There isn't much in the visual department, but you don't need to see. Turn the bass down as much as possible so you can hear the rapping sound.

You gotta be kidding me. It'* getting to be that you can't trust a used 3800 anymore... Is a lifter a possibility? I couldn't tell from the sound.

Sure seems like it. Darkshadow is on motor #5, Will on motor #3 (hopefully not), McGrath on motor #3...I bet there'* more

Here'* to hoping that the sound is just a simple easy fix that'll save the car.

It very well could be. Won't know for sure until sometime tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning. Tonight I'm going out to dinner to celebrate 31 years of survival. But here is what is known:

1) OIl pressure is good.

2) Noise goes away at idle. Noise is NOT on schedule. It happens when it wants, and how hard it wants.

3) Don'* #1 engine did the exact same thing. That was the whole reason he changed it.

Spoke to both Will and his male parental unit last night. It wasn't a good conversation...never is when you break news like this to anyone. Nobody really knows where to go from this point IF the motor really is toast. My SSEi will not be moving under its own power anytime soon, so the bay is full until I can get the new PCM and the rest of the wiring installed.

There is ONE possibility left... it'* going to take ALOT of wrench time to do, and it'* an absolute last resort.
