Make a post in 92-99 and ask what gaskets and materials (including coolant elbow) and you'll get hooked right up. Then go to National and Regional Meets and check the NEBF topic. You'll have a good crowd to help you with it.

hwo do you edit the post ? I tried but it didn't work im probably doing something wrong. I live near Syracuse NY. My 98 Bonnie was changed because the intake shows a 2000 date. I have put over 150k on this car myself and chgd the coolant too but it doesn't go down at all, shouldn't I just wait till I notice missing coolant ? Also my Park Ave is a 1999 and the intake shows a 2002 date, not sure when it was done but it has 70k on the car should I also just keep an eye on it ? I am not sure who did the repair but it looks like the lower was done also because you can see the bright orange edge sticking out ? The Bonnie will probably be sold or dumped after winter and then the Park will be put on the road. I hate to get rid of the Bonnie as besides having 212k miles it is in really good shape with NO rust, oh well thanks for the info and help. I changed the UIM and gaskets on EK98'* car 3 months ago. HIs manufactured date is March of 2002. His manifold was failing, and his gaskets were absolute * H I T.

We did his as a preventive measure. He had no symptoms yet. D a m n good thing we did, too.

You should do the whole top end with an APN kit or a Dillon UIM ($60 for the Dillon).

The whole job on EK98'* care was well under 200 bucks. Probably closer to 150.

The point being that if it fails before you fix it, you may suffer bottom end (bearing/crank) damage and lose the engine. It'* happened to more than one member here.

Mine failed twice. first time was 130K and then at 185K ( I think). My water pumpwent out around 200K. My intake elbow failed sometime before either of those problems happend, I was at work and noticed the antifreeze leaking out on the pavement.

I thought you said in your other topic that you were all original with nothing replaced? That'* why I warned you.

Keep in mind if you still have Dexcool and an OEM replacement or Dorman upper intake, you still have a problem.

The fix is lose the Dex, go to an APN upper or Dillon upper/Buttermore stovepipe, and replace the LIM gaskets with the new GM design with the aluminum frames.

so ALL red coolant is supposed to be bad ? Not sure if mine is trademark DExCool I purchased it at Walmart. So if im reading this right I should change both the Bonnie and the Park even though they may be ok ?

The Prestone long-life Dex compatible is good. If you don't know for sure what you have, I'd flush them and put in known good.
