Thats 50k on dex...
I talked to my Shadetree mechanic buddy.... and he was telling me that he'* seeing more and more of the 3800 series II NA engines spin bearings and or blow up... It has everything to do with these gaskets paired with dex cool
As well all of the 3100'* with green normally made 100k on the intake gaskets with no issues... With the Dex we have seen them fail as early as 30k...
I can't begin to tell you how many 3100'* and 3400 my friend has worked on in the last year... Its nuts... and Most all of them are under 100k...
And BTW, I got 4 years out of my water pump the first go around, 1 year on the replacement GM unit... 4 Years on the Unit i installed... And have almost 2 years on the last one... My 91 uses the exact same pump and is almost at 6 years with Grren coolant that is way overdue for a flush and refill... Some water pumps last longer others dont
250,000 miles on an LN3 3800

I guess im just lucky then, between my car now and the one before that I have over 350k miles and NEVER had a problem ... Again the Bonnie I have now has 212k on the orignal waterpump . go figure...
are you guys recomending to tear it down even if there are NO problems ? My coolant level never goes down . Isn't there any warning signs wen a tear down is nessasary ? And what are you replacing the coolant with the green stuff ??
if I should need to do a change is there a post anywhere that tells blow by blow every step to do it myself and what parts I shoudl get and from who ? If so I will save it and keep it on file in case I need to do a repair. But for now I don't have any leaks or issues. Thanks
